The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Kwara State Chapter, has commenced its youth community engagement initiative in Elekoyangan, Moro Local Government Area. Led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Abdulmumeen Eshinrogunjo, the 4th Assembly has embarked on a key agenda of engaging youth communities across the state. The goal is to foster dialogue on the challenges and shortcomings faced by these communities and to collaboratively seek lasting solutions.
The engagement session was attended by prominent community leaders, including the Alangua of Eleko and neighboring areas, the Magaji of Boyi and Oyun Community, the Chief Imam of Elekoyangan, the Elekoyangan Community Youth Leader, youths from the area, and other dignitaries.
In his address, the Alangua of Eleko commended YAN for this initiative, highlighting the importance of engaging with the youth to better understand the issues affecting various constituencies. He urged the Assembly to ensure that these concerns are communicated to the government, calling for developmental projects that will benefit the Elekoyangan community.
The Youth Leader of the community also expressed gratitude to the YAN Kwara State Chapter for choosing Elekoyangan for this important dialogue. He emphasized the need for stakeholders to work together in identifying and addressing the problems facing the community.
Mr. Saheed Bukola Badmus, a respected youth figure in the community, raised concerns about the lack of adequate security, urging the government to take immediate action to improve safety in the area.
During the session, the Chief Imam of Elekoyangan, in his sermon, encouraged the youth to remain God-fearing and avoid illegal activities. He offered prayers for the success of the YAN Kwara State Chapter and its initiatives.
In recognition of his contributions to community development, the YAN Kwara State Chapter presented an Award of Excellence and Integrity to the Alangua of Elekoyangan, celebrating him as a role model and an icon of nation-building.
This engagement marks a significant step in YAN’s mission to address grassroots challenges and empower youths across Kwara State.
