Social media critic and activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man, has responded to Nigerian rapper Falz after being given a 24-hour ultimatum to retract and apologize for statements he made concerning an alleged audio clip involving Bobrisky.
The controversy began when Very Dark Man leaked an alleged audio conversation between Bobrisky and a male friend, where Bobrisky claimed he contacted Falz and his father, Femi Falana (SAN), to help secure a presidential pardon. In his reaction to the audio, Very Dark Man expressed disgust at Falz and his father’s alleged association with Bobrisky, and subtly questioned Falz’s sexuality.
In response, Falz issued a statement through his father’s chambers, confirming that Bobrisky had indeed contacted him on May 4, asking for N3 million to secure a VIP area in prison. However, Falz stated that he refused to provide any money. He further claimed that Very Dark Man’s remarks portrayed him as a homosexual who subverts justice for personal gain. Falz also accused the social media critic of not allowing him the opportunity to share his side of the story.
Falz, through his legal team, demanded an immediate retraction of the “offensive and derogatory” statements and a public apology across all platforms where the remarks were disseminated.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Very Dark Man finally addressed Falz’s ultimatum, revealing that he had spoken with the rapper on the phone and maintained that he did not defame him. He stated, “I will see you in court,” indicating his readiness to face legal proceedings.
Very Dark Man also pointed out discrepancies in Bobrisky’s story, saying, “Bobrisky is saying the voice call was fake, and now Falz is confirming they had a call. The only difference is that Bobrisky claims Falz called him, while Falz says Bobrisky was the one who called. Falz says Bobrisky asked him for N3 million, but Bobrisky is saying Falz told him to pay his father, the lawyer, N10 million.”
The activist further explained that he expected Falz to direct his legal action toward Bobrisky, not him, as he was not the one in the recorded conversation. “My reason for posting that audio was to expose the corruption that Bobrisky confessed to, claiming that instead of being taken to prison, he was taken to a private lodge and that EFCC collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges,” he added.
Very Dark Man concluded by reaffirming his stance, insisting, “To be honest, I did not defame Falz or Uncle Femi Falana.”
