Controversial social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has released a new audio recording, insisting that popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneyej, also known as Bobrisky, never spent time in jail.
In the recording shared on Monday, VDM reiterated his claims that Bobrisky paid off officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges against him. The audio, which VDM claims was recorded on May 16, features Bobrisky detailing his encounter with the EFCC and his subsequent release from detention.
According to the recording, Bobrisky revealed that his bank accounts were frozen by the EFCC over suspicious financial transactions. However, he allegedly negotiated with officials to have the charges dropped.
VDM first brought attention to Bobrisky over an unpaid debt of N4 million to an unnamed creditor. He posted a video across various social media platforms, explaining how the individual begged him to pressure Bobrisky into settling the debt.
The situation escalated when VDM accused EFCC and Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) officials of accepting bribes from Bobrisky. He further alleged that human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Falz, attempted to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.
These allegations prompted the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions to invite both VDM and Bobrisky for a hearing.
