Olalade Ayelabola, a 500-level Computer Science student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has set a new Guinness World Record by completing the longest distance walked by a model. Ayelabola achieved this impressive feat after walking a total distance of 130.62km.
Her attempt, which began on Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1, 2024, at UNILAG’s indoor sports center, initially aimed for 120km. However, Ayelabola went beyond the target, completing an additional 10km, making her total walk 2,058 laps within the sports center.
Celebrating her achievement on Instagram, Ayelabola expressed her gratitude: “I did it, everyone! My record is set. There were difficulties but I stood through it. There were pains but I refused to cower. Thank you for helping me do this.”
Throughout her walk, Ayelabola showcased designs by Nigerian designers, including pieces from UNILAG’s Theatre Arts Department.
Though Ayelabola has completed the feat, official recognition and confirmation from the Guinness World Records are still pending.
