Three days of rainfall across Abuja and 17 other states has been predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.

It was disclosed by the agency on Monday in its weather outlook released to the public.

The forecast reads, “Over the north-central region, intermittent rains are expected over parts of Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory, and Plateau states during the morning hours.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms/intermittent rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Kogi States.”

“In the afternoon to evening hours, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Bauchi, Kaduna, Kebbi, Gombe and Yobe States.

“Over the North-Central region, intermittent rains are anticipated over parts of Niger, Benue, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory during the morning hours.

“Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. The public should, therefore, take adequate precautions and adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities,” it added.

While the agency advised airline operators to make use of weather reports for better planning, it also urged residents to avoid flood-prone areas due to anticipated heavy downpours, particularly in major cities.
