The Sandal Initiative Project (SIP), spearheaded by Mr. Kale Jimoh, CEO of Kalia Footwear, has made its way to the students of Government Day Junior Secondary School (GDSS) Amule in Ilorin East. The initiative aims to provide quality leather sandals to underprivileged students who are unable to afford proper school footwear, replacing torn or worn-out sandals.
Now in its fourth edition, SIP continues to spread across Kwara State, positively impacting students in need. The latest phase at GDSS Amule was facilitated by philanthropist, Engr. Ridwan Cook Amode, a native of the Ibagun Ward in Ilorin East. Engr. Cook’s support ensured that the students of Amule could benefit from this essential project.
Speaking on behalf of Engr. Cook, Comrade Bello Abdulwaheed Onikanhun, also from Ibagun Ward, praised the initiative and urged the students to take their education seriously. He also encouraged them to cultivate a mindset of giving back to their communities in the future.
Earlier, the Alangua of Ibagun, Alhaji Abdulmaliq Sakariyau Iyanda, gave his royal blessing to the project when the organizers visited his palace. His support further underscored the importance of community-driven initiatives like SIP.
The event also saw attendance from the Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Youth Development and the Special Assistant on Students Affairs to the Kwara State Government, both of whom were represented at the occasion.
With the continued backing of community leaders and philanthropists, the *Sandal Initiative Project* remains a beacon of hope for students in need, demonstrating the power of collective action in uplifting the next generation.
