Shagaya pushes for Federal College of Education in Afon: bill clears second reading

In a landmark move to boost education and development in Kwara State, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya’s Bill to establish the Federal College of Education, Afon, has passed its second reading in the House of Representatives. The Bill, which seeks to amend the Federal Colleges of Education Act, is set to bring advanced teacher training closer to underserved communities while driving socio-economic growth in Afon and its surrounding areas.

Hon. Shagaya described the initiative as a transformative opportunity for the educational sector. “This college will enhance access to quality teacher training and create jobs, improve infrastructure, and foster community development,” he said. Reaffirming his commitment to his constituents in Ilorin West and Asa Federal Constituency, Shagaya pledged to work tirelessly to make this vision a reality. He also lauded the Tinubu administration’s focus on education, aligning the Bill with national efforts to position Nigeria as a global leader in educational progress.
