Nigerian Street Pop sensation Seyi Vibez has officially parted ways with Dapper Music, the label under which he rose to fame. The artist hinted on his departure by deleting all Instagram posts, removing the label’s name from his bio, and replacing it with “Independent,” confirming his split from the popular Nigerian music label.
Since breaking into the mainstream in 2022, Seyi Vibez has become one of Nigeria’s most prominent artists, thanks to hit singles like ‘Chance ‘. His exit from Dapper Music follows the recent cancellation of his Canadian tour, which organizers attributed to “circumstances beyond their control.”
The decision has sparked speculation about a possible rift between the artist and the label, though no official statements have been made by either party. Despite the split, both Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music have enjoyed immense success since 2022, with the singer winning Best Street Hop at the 2023 Headies Awards and Dapper Music CEO Damilola Akinwunmi being named TurnTable Chart’s Executive of the Year.
In 2024, Seyi Vibez has continued to flourish, releasing his EP ‘Loseyi Professor’, marking his sixth solo project since November 2022. Earlier in the year, he launched his own label, Vibez INC, where he introduced a new roster of artists. As Seyi Vibez embarks on this new chapter as an independent artist, fans are eager to see what the future holds for him.
