Salman Shagaya Foundation touched 1000 lives in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, with a sum of 50,000 each, which targets old people, PLWDs, and other vulnerable groups on Wednesday.

The Cash Empowerment Program, which took place at the Muktar Shagaya Constituency Office, was aimed at dousing the raging hunger in the country and lifting people out of poverty with the money to kickstart a business.

Sheriff Shagaya, the chairman of the Foundation, stated while speaking with newsmen, “We’ve been doing this for the past ten years. We started with the sum of N10,000 for 100 people. Now, we are giving N50,000 to 1000 people. The next one will be bigger than this.”

“It is now more than a scheme. It has become a source of support and hope for a better living for petty traders and other vulnerable groups,” he added.

He also acknowledged the support of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unrelenting effort to lift people out of poverty through people-friendly schemes and for giving the Foundation the chance to reach out to people.

“We can’t do this without the support of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. It’s on this note that I want to thank him for his effort to take the state forward with beautiful ideas and innovations.

“You will realize this gesture touches their lives positively. You find out it makes a difference for them and make them very happy. It is seeing such a smile on their face that gives me the biggest joy.

“We do not politicize the program. We only see humanity. It is a private investment aim to complement the efforts of Kwara State Government.”

Islamic scholar Sheikh Umar Faruq Sohibu l Bayan commended the unending commitment of the foundation to supporting the poor, which he said is uncommon in the state.

Also, he commended the chairman of the foundation for displaying Son of the Soil traits by moving beneficial companies to the state.

The Islamic scholar said, ” This act of giving doesn’t start with Sheriff, it runs in the blood of the family. But it’s a thing of pride that Sheriff is taking it to another level and writing his name on the book of history. We have many rich people from the state. But we have a few spending their wealth on the same course.”

“This is what Shagaya has been doing for years. We have seen thousands of people who have benefited. And we urge the affluent to emulate him. May God not bring him down and make him tower above all adversities in his business.”

The program was attended by Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, Member representing Asa/Ilorin federal constituency, Sheu Yahaya-APC chairmanship candidate Asa, Hon. Abdulrahman Ladan-APC chairmanship candidate Ilorin West, Comrade Wahab Abdulmajeed Aburo Gomina, Hon. Sulyman Tejidini APC-Chairman Ilorin West, Hon.
