Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly begged for forgiveness after allegedly slapping a pastor who came to preach at his bar in Sango, Ogun State.

In a video that surfaced online, Portable was seen striking the man of God, an act that quickly sparked widespread criticism from Nigerians, including members of the clergy, some of whom gave him an ultimatum to apologize or face consequences.

In a change of heart, the singer issued an apology, asking for forgiveness from both the pastor and Nigerians. Portable explained that he acted out of fear, believing the preacher had come to spiritually harm him.

“My fans, community issues are different from that of the street. May God forgive me. I didn’t know he was a genuine man of God. If I knew, I wouldn’t have slapped him. I’m also a child of God,” Portable said, adding that he was influenced by past experiences involving his sister.
