Two men have been nabbed by the Lagos police command for allegedly lynching a man accused of stealing cables in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, made the arrest of the suspects known on Monday.
“The Alausa Police Division received information from a concerned member of the public about the case on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m.
“The informant said that at about 3:00 a.m. of same date, he received a call from one of his brothers that one Monday has been lynched to death by some group of boys.
“The suspects and others still at large conspired and murdered Monday after he was indicted for cable theft.
“After Monday was beaten to a stupor, the suspects used copper wire to tie his neck and strangled him to death.”
The spokesperson, however, assured a thorough investigation into the incident, adding that the victim’s body has been moved to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy.
