Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, former Senator of Kwara Central, has once again facilitated an empowerment initiative for no fewer than 250 youth and women across Kwara State. This event, which is the second of its kind since his departure from public office, took place today at the Bishop Smith LGEA premises in Ilorin. The empowerment was organized through the 2024 Capital Project of the National Directorate of Employment, with beneficiaries receiving essential items such as Deep Freezers, Grinding Machines, and Sewing Machines.

Represented by his daughter, Barrister Hafsat Oloriegbe, Senator Oloriegbe reaffirmed his dedication to implementing measures that enhance sustainable livelihoods and address social injustices affecting the constituents.

“This initiative was developed in response to the pressing economic challenges faced by our community. Despite not holding a public office, we continue to receive numerous requests that highlight the significant need for initiatives aimed at boosting local economic development and promoting self-sufficiency,” he stated.

“Our commitment to improving the quality of life for our constituents extends beyond public office. It reflects our enduring aspiration to support initiatives that overcome obstacles to general wellness and foster financial independence. We urge the beneficiaries to utilize the items responsibly.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Medinat Sayi and Mrs Victoria Arowolo expressed their gratitude to the former legislator for his poverty alleviation efforts, which they believe will assist individuals in achieving self-sufficiency. They extended their appreciation for his continuous support to vulnerable members of the community and offered prayers for his continuous success.

The event was attended by Mr. Kudabo G.O, the State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, Awelewa J.N., the agency’s Auditor, as well as various party stakeholders and elder statesmen from Ilorin West.
