A dramatic twist has emerged in the Offa Local Government chairmanship election as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Hon. Lukman Salahudeen has instituted a lawsuit against the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the APC candidate in the just concluded local government election in Offa Hon. Olatunji Suleiman.
Speaking to journalists on behalf of the petitioner, Barrister Abayomi Olaitan stated that his client has taken the appropriate step by approaching a court of competent jurisdiction to address what he described as a daylight robbery. He argued that a winner was declared despite the fact that elections did not take place in any of the 12 wards of Offa Local Government.
Barrister Abayomi provided an update on the case, stating that it was officially filed on October 11th, which aligns with the necessary procedures and guidelines set forth by the election tribunal. He further confirmed that all respondents involved in the case have been properly notified and served with the relevant legal documents, ensuring that the process adheres to the required legal standards.
The PDP candidate’s decision to seek legal redress follows concerns over alleged irregularities and violations of election guidelines. The move aims to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and uphold democratic principles.
