The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has unveiled the NFF Monthly Awards to recognize outstanding performances of Nigerian football players across various leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The awards will honor players in three categories: Player of the Month (Male & Female), Goal of the Month, and Discovery of the Month. An independent organization will collect and analyze players’ statistics to ensure fair and accurate nominations.
Fans and journalists will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite players through the NFF voting portal, Fan votes will account for 40% of the final decision, while journalists and industry professionals will determine the remaining 60%. Nominations for the first round will be announced on October 3rd, 2024.
Speaking on the launch of the awards, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said: “The NFF Monthly Awards are a key part of our efforts to further elevate Nigeria football, not only by recognizing outstanding talent but by engaging with fans and the media in a way that brings the football community closer together. We believe that this initiative will encourage excellence on the field and foster a deeper connection between players and their supporters.”
Key dates include nominations announcement on October 3rd and voting from October 3rd to midnight of October 7th, 2024. The NFF Monthly Awards aim to celebrate the brilliance, dedication, and passion of Nigerian football players, recognizing their hard work and contributions to their teams. This initiative promises to excite fans, players, and the media, promoting Nigerian football’s growth and development.
