Kwara United secured their first NPFL win of the season, defeating table-toppers Remo Stars 1-0 on Sunday. Shola Abdulraheem’s 56th-minute sublime effort proved decisive.

The Harmony Boys started strongly, with Wasiu Alalade and Akanni Akeem forcing Remo Stars to adopt a cautious approach. United missed a prime chance in the 39th minute, as Akanni Akeem’s poor finish denied them the lead.

After the break, Kwara United built on their momentum, and Remo Stars’ numerical disadvantage following Sani Faisal’s red card handed the hosts an advantage. Shola Abdulraheem capitalized with a fine strike, breaking the deadlock.

The game witnessed intense moments, including Saheed Olaniyi’s injury after heading off a free kick, which temporarily halted play. Both teams introduced new players, increasing the game’s intensity. Remo Stars pushed for an equalizer, but Kwara United defended their lead.

The victory propels Kwara United to 13th on the log, while Remo Stars’ unbeaten streak ends, dropping them to second place behind Rivers United. Kwara United now looks forward to their matchday six clash against Abia Warriors.
