On Tuesday, 776,896 children were targeted by the Kwara State government, aged 5 to 14 years across the 15 local governments in the state for deworming exercise.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina El-Imam, during the flag-off of the programme at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin.

“This year’s mass administration of medicines is targeted at 776,896 school-aged children with deworming tablets in the state, with the exception of Oke-Ero Local Government Area.

“Our mission does not stop at treatment alone, we are equally committed to prevention.

“This includes promoting clean water, improving sanitation, and raising awareness about the importance of good hygiene practices,” El-Imam added.

She, however, gave kudos to the governor of the state, Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq for prioritizing health in the state.
