The statement reads: “Jimba-Oja Descendants Union extends deep appreciation to your Excellency for your development efforts in Kwara State, particularly your respect for traditional institutions.

“Since the passing of Oba Jimoh Akanni in February 2023, the Jimba-Oja Kingmakers have diligently worked to select a successor. Following due process, a candidate was chosen , according to the tenets and tradition of the Jimba-Oja Community with notifications sent to the Ifelodun Local Government, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and your esteemed office.

“We wish to bring the attention of His Excellency, that the Kingmakers involved in the selection process are the legally recognised Chiefs of Jimba-Oja which was submitted by the late Oba Jimoh Akanni with the details and records at the Ifelodun Local Government Secretariat and they include:
1. Alhaji Wahab Hassan – Essa of Jimba-Oja (Chairman)
2. Mallam Rahman Adigun – Elemosho
3. Pa Momonu Alade – Ajikobi
4. Mr. Ganiyu Raheem – Akinrogun of Jimba

“Having concluded their process since July 2023, the Kingmakers submitted their findings and reports to the appropriate quarters/ authorities. However, our community remains without a traditional head, which has hindered our progress and unity.

“We respectfully request Your Excellency’s intervention to expedite the approval, as the Kingmakers’ choice represents the will of our community and is essential for its growth and stability.

“Additionally, the Ifelodun Local Government Traditional Council of Obas headed by the Elese of Igbaja, HRH Oba Babalola Ahmed Awuni Arepo III and his council of Obas in ifelodun, have independently verified the reports of the Afobajes and forwarded their findings to the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs since May 2024 for the approval of your Excellency and since then nothing has been forthcoming.

“Your Excellency sir, we wish to conclude by stating that the Decision of the King makers of Jimba-Oja town in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State is the true reflection of the 10 NATIVE COMPOUND that makes up Jimba-Oja which clearly shows that the Entire Community(Compounds, Religious and Traditional Institutions) are solidly behind the decision of the Kingmakers of Jimba-Oja Town as Verified by the Ifelodun Local Government Traditional Council of OBAS.
