The kwara state government under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been called by the Jimba Oja Descendants Congress to look into the installation of the new king, stating that the decision is against what the people of the town wanted.

The Congress made the call during a press conference in Ilorin on Friday 8th, November. Alh. Olarenwaju Bakare, the Administrator General of the Jimba-Oja Descendants Congress, stated the decision to put the newly installed king was due to a wrong information given to the Governor by some mischievous individuals.

The statement read in part, “Ifelodun Local Government Area and the Ifelodun Traditional Council had already recommended a candidate to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development. However, it came as a rude surprise and shock when the governor proceeded to appoint someone else, bypassing their chosen candidate.”

The Eesa of Jimba, Alhaji Wahab Hassan, Oja and head of the kingmakers, further aired the displeasure characterizing the installation of the new king. He said, “The two ruling houses, Akaparo and Baale, had put forward four candidates, among whom Oba Adebayo was not recommended by the community. We, however, urged the governor to review the decision and put the right person who the entire community want to be the kind.”

Alhaja Memunat, the Iya loja of Jimba Oja also appealed to the governor to look deeply into their concerns and put the community first to avoid stirring chaos in the community.

While rounding it off, Alh. Bakare spoke highly of the governor to be a man of integrity and his selfless commitment to fairness, on this ground, he urged the governor to hear their grievances and take the necessary decision.
