A devastating accident has occurred involving the team bus of Heartland FC, who were en route to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-Season Tournament.
Unfortunately, the incident has resulted in fatalities, with Christian Obi, the Head Coach of Heartland FC, reported to have lost his life. Several players are also being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
According to the club statement, “The accident happened at Umunna close to Okigwe still within Imo State.
“The vehicle in its attempt to dodge an uncoming vehicle collided with another carelessly parked vehicle from another accident.
“Though no death was recorded some players and officials sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital.”
Even though the statement omitted the tragic part that the coach, who was taken to the hospital for treatment, there are wide reports that he succumbed to his injuries and passed away shortly after arrival.
