For the fifth consecutive year, Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, has awarded scholarships to the 135 most outstanding students across the four local government areas (LGAs) of the senatorial district.
The students, selected as the top performers in recently concluded summer classes, will have their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees fully sponsored. These students were recommended by local development associations within the district, marking yet another milestone in Senator Mustapha’s continuous efforts to support academic excellence.
In a letter of award seen by JustEventOnlineNews, it was further revealed that each beneficiary is eligible for additional sponsorship to cover the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board – Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB-UTME) fees, provided they pass their WAEC exams.
The letter, issued by Alhaji AbdulRahman Abdulkadir Tunde, a Legislative Aide, on behalf of the senator, reads:
“I write on behalf of Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, to commend you and your association for the exceptional dedication you have shown in organising holiday summer classes for the youth in Zango Ward.
“Your commitment to the academic and personal growth of our youth is an inspiring example of community service, and it has not gone unnoticed.”
The letter continued by affirming the senator’s offer of a full WAEC scholarship to the best-performing students in the senior classes of each summer program. Additionally, successful students who pass their WAEC exams will automatically be sponsored for the JAMB-UTME for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This marks Senator Mustapha’s fifth consecutive year of providing scholarships to deserving students of community organized summer lessons. Last year, 102 students from 67 summer classes benefited from similar scholarships.
Senator Mustapha, who also holds the title of Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, has made educational development a cornerstone of his service, consistently supporting initiatives that empower young people in Kwara Central.
