Nigeria’s interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has expressed reservations about taking the Super Eagles helm permanently.
Eguavoen, a former defender, has led the team temporarily since Finidi George’s departure. However, when considering a permanent position, he’s cautious.
Speaking to Brila FM, Eguavoen shared his thoughts:
“The Super Eagles job I’m doing right now, if I were to switch permanently, it’s something I’d need to sit down, reflect and think deeply about because it’s not a small job.”
“It’s a tough one; you have to give me a long-term contract with patience and clauses in that contract because winning is not guaranteed every week or day. You will give me time to tweak the team till I find what I want.”
Eguavoen’s hesitation underscores the weight of responsibility associated with leading Nigeria’s national team, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and a well-structured contract.
