Davido pledges ₦300 million to charity ahead of 32nd birthday

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is set to mark his 32nd birthday with a generous ₦300 million donation to orphanages and a charity focused on combating drug abuse.

The announcement was made on his X (formerly Twitter) page, where the award-winning artist shared his plans for the annual philanthropic gesture. “Once again, my birthday this year, we donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon ❤️,” he wrote.

This will be Davido’s fourth publicized donation. In 2021, to celebrate his 29th birthday, he donated ₦250 million to 292 orphanages. In July 2023, he contributed ₦237 million to over 400 orphanages across Nigeria. Earlier in February 2024, in collaboration with the David Adeleke Foundation, he announced another ₦300 million donation to support orphanages nationwide.

Davido’s consistent commitment to charitable causes has earned him admiration, with many hailing him as a beacon of generosity in the entertainment industry. Fans and followers eagerly await further details of this year’s disbursement as the Awuke crooner continues to use his platform to give back to society.
