Rising beauty queen Chidinma Adetshina has firmly addressed the controversy surrounding her recent victory as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. In a recent interview with Arise TV, Adetshina pushed back against claims that her win was driven by sympathy rather than merit.

“A lot of people felt like it was a pity win. I don’t think so,” she stated confidently. “Coming from a South African journey, I worked very hard. We spent like 10 weeks camping, going through the whole journey.”

She added, “It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I had the same experience with other contestants.”

Adetshina also addressed the recent allegations from the South African government accusing her of identity theft. While denying any wrongdoing, she chose not to delve into the specifics until all facts are available.

“I did not steal anyone’s identity. I’m just waiting for the conclusion of the case and the whole matter,” she explained. “I avoided the questions because it is a legal matter, and I don’t have all the facts about the matter, but what I can say is that I was not running away from any of that. I was just running because I knew I had a dream that I wanted to fulfill.”

As the legal proceedings continue, Adetshina remains focused on her Miss Universe Nigeria journey, confident in her innocence. “I know I did not steal anyone’s identity,” she reaffirmed.
