The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is poised to introduce the U19 Champions League, mirroring UEFA’s successful youth competition. This development aims to enhance youth football development across Africa.
According to sources from CAF’s headquarters in Cairo, the competition department is actively exploring the possibility of launching the U19 Champions League. This move will fill a significant gap, as CAF currently has age-grade national team competitions but lacks a similar platform for clubs.
The introduction of the U19 Champions League will provide African clubs with a valuable opportunity to develop young talent and compete against peers. However, key details such as the competition format, club eligibility, and admission criteria are still being finalized.
Once ratified, the U19 Champions League is expected to elevate African youth football, offering a platform for emerging stars to shine and bolstering the continent’s football landscape. This strategic move aligns with CAF’s commitment to developing the sport and nurturing future generations of African footballers.
