Nigerian champions, Enugu Rangers are interested in signing Ahmed Musa as the Super Eagles captain hinted at a potential return to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Having previously played in the NPFL with Kano Pillars, Musa, 31, spread excitement among fans on social media platform X on Monday evening, dropping subtle hints about a possible comeback to the Nigerian topflight.
Musa tweeted on X and added photos of all the NPFL teams to the tweet: “Let’s go again. Which of these teams do you wish for me to sign?”
His tweet has generated immense interest from various NPFL teams. Enugu Rangers and their general manager, Amobi Ezeaku, were among the X users who replied and urged Musa to join their team.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of the Flyng Antelope also spoke highly about the prospect of Musa joining his squad.
“I don’t know about it, but if he is truly going to come, it will be a welcome development for us because Musa is a superstar who is disciplined and a player everyone can work with. He is disciplined and has the right attitude.”
“His image alone is something good for us. He has played for top clubs in Europe and ranks among the best scorers in the league. He will be a source of motivation for our current players and many other Nigerian internationals to come back to the league.” He added.
Ilechukwu continued, “He won’t also have a problem settling down here because Rangers is a big club with the capacity to welcome players from all over the world, not just Nigeria. Particularly, we also have a lot of northerners in our team right now, so he won’t be lonely.”
Despite that the NPFL 2024/25 summer transfer window has already closed, the Super Eagles winger can still be signed by any NPFL team as a free agent.
The head of competitions of the NPFL, Sunday Obaseki, affirmed that “Yes, he can be registered. Ahmed Musa will be on the Transfer Matching System so he won’t have a problem.”
