Kwara Rebuilders concludes voters awareness, registration program in Kwara State

September 15th, 2025

The Kwara Rebuilders, a non-governmental organization (NGO) committed to the development of Kwara State and the empowerment of its citizens, recently organized a Voters Awareness and Pre-Registration Initiative.

The program was implemented across four major local governments in Kwara State: Offa, Ilorin West, Oyun, and Ifelodun.

This initiative was designed to address the persistent challenges of political apathy and low voter participation, particularly among citizens without voter cards. It sought to enlighten residents on the importance of exercising their civil rights, while also providing direct support to ease the process of voter registration.

The program lasted for two weeks before its conclusion. It began in Offa Local Government, where strategic locations such as the popular Owode Market were targeted to ensure that commercial activities did not hinder residents from participating in the political process. The exercise then proceeded to Ilorin West, Oyun, and Ifelodun Local Governments, respectively.

After registration, printouts of applicants’ information were prepared to facilitate their appointments at the INEC office, where thumbprinting and other required processes for obtaining the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) were completed. To make the process entirely seamless and stress-free, Kwara Rebuilders took responsibility for printing these documents free of charge.

Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to Kwara Rebuilders for their selfless service and foresight in initiating such a timely and impactful program. They commended the organization for bridging the gap between citizens and the electoral process. Many urged other non-governmental organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to emulate this noble effort to further strengthen democracy in Kwara State.
