The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has issued a firm caution to the people of Kwara North Senatorial District over their recent criticisms of matter related to the progress of Ilorin Emirate under the leadership of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
The IEDPU specifically urged the leadership of the Kwara North Development Commission to exercise restraint in its comments about Ilorin and its development agenda.
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Abubakar Imam, on behalf of its National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, the IEDPU described KNDC’s remarks as divisive and detrimental to the unity of Kwara State. The Union stressed that the skills acquisition centre, located in Ilorin, is a project of statewide significance, designed to uplift the lives of residents across all senatorial districts.
“It is surprising that a group claiming to champion development would criticize the Governor’s commitment to such a noble initiative,” Alhaji Abdulmalik remarked.
He emphasized that similar projects in other regions, like the Shonga Innovation Hub in Kwara North and the CBT Centre in Igbaja, Kwara South, have been widely celebrated.
The IEDPU further highlighted Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s personal and family contributions to various developmental causes, stating that the Governor’s track record of philanthropy should dispel any doubts about his intentions to complete the project.
The Union called on the KNDC and other stakeholders to avoid actions that could strain the historically cordial relationship between the people of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara North. “Let us not allow baseless criticisms to sow discord in our state,” the statement concluded.
