Real Madrid’s Brazilian wonderkid Endrick, 18, may make a surprise move to Premier League strugglers Southampton in the January transfer window.
Endrick joined Real Madrid in the summer for £60m from Palmeiras but has had limited opportunities, making 10 appearances and scoring twice, with no starts.
According to Sport, Southampton has contacted Real Madrid about a potential deal, but faces competition from Roma and Real Valladolid.
Endrick’s temporary departure would aim to develop his game. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti praised Endrick’s readiness, saying: “[Endrick is] ready to play, doing very well, showing a lot of quality in training.”
Ancelotti continued: “I say the same about Güler. They are young people who are pushing. But the collective idea is to turn things around as quickly as possible. Can you do that with them? Yes. But the objective is to turn it around, that is the priority. Not to give minutes to one player or another.”
He added: “We can use Endrick and Güler in the next games. They can help us a lot.” Endrick’s teammate Arda Guler is also linked with a move away, with Arsenal interested.
Southampton urgently needs reinforcements, sitting bottom of the table with one win in 11 games, scoring just seven goals, and already four points adrift of safety.
