New Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has made it clear that youth will not be an excuse for failure. Despite having a young squad, Amorim expects his players to deliver, particularly the trio deemed “unsellable” by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe: Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Hojlund.
Amorim emphasized that his young players are prepared to handle the demands of playing for Manchester United. “I don’t want to say that we need time because we are a young team,” he stated. “They are prepared. They are prepared to cope with the demands of playing for Manchester United. They should be because they are here.”
Under Amorim’s guidance, Manchester United will focus on developing a strong team identity. “In one word: team. The team is the most important thing for me,” he explained. “And if you work as a team, then the talent individually is going to shine.” Amorim prioritizes character, fight, and a clear playing style.
Amorim’s vision extends beyond winning games. He wants Manchester United to have an unmistakable identity. “Everybody thinks the same, running back, playing, enjoying. This is what drives me,” he said. “We know that we need time, but we have to win time. To win time is to win games. But the most important thing for me is identity.”
As Amorim prepares for his first game against Ipswich Town, he will focus on implementing his game model. “How to play, how to press, these small things, small details,” he noted. “You cannot go 100% on every detail because it will be confusing for the players.”
Amorim’s priorities are clear: establish a strong team identity, utilize his young talent, and achieve success. With Garnacho, Mainoo, and Hojlund at the forefront, Manchester United’s new era under Amorim promises to be exciting and focused on development.
