Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu, known for her role in the Bring Back Our Girls movement, has aim at Nigerian musician Seun Kuti, labeling him “a product of Fela’s indiscipline” after Kuti criticized her views on women’s rights.

The clash began when Kuti suggested Yesufu “liberate herself from hijab first” in response to her advocacy for women’s freedom. In a pointed retort on social media, Yesufu claimed Kuti’s career struggles are due to his reliance on his father, the legendary Fela Kuti, instead of his own musical talent.

In a series of posts on X, Yesufu wrote, “Seun Kuti wants to trend with my name as his karaoke business no make him blow alongside those wey dey do music. I don’t blame him! If only his father had discipline over his loin we wouldn’t be dealing with the consequences of that lack of discipline!” She further dismissed Kuti as “a caricature” of his father.

Seun Kuti, known for his outspoken activism and Afrobeat music, is the youngest son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, a revered pioneer of Afrobeat and influential figure in Nigerian music.
