Nollywood stars Genoveva Umeh and Uche Montana have been nominated for the 18th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) Prize for Acting, alongside other talented actors.
Umeh, a British-Nigerian actress, rose to fame for her role in Nigeria’s first Netflix original crime thriller, ‘Blood Sisters’. She also won Best Supporting Actress at the 2024 AMVCA for her performance in the Prime Video Original, ‘Breath of Life’.
Uche Montana, known for her versatility, has starred in several films including The Betrayed, Wedding Night Blues, A Silent Intruder, Seven, and Banana Island Ghost.
Other nominees include Jide ‘Jblaze’ Onyegbile, recognised for his roles in House of Ga’a and the series Assistant Madams, and Mike Afolarin, a rising star known for his performances in Netflix’s Far From Home, House of Ga’a, and Prime Video’s Water and Garri.
Kayode Ojuolape was also nominated for his roles in Leaked and Ijogbon.
The Future Awards Africa celebrates young people between the ages of 18 and 31 who have achieved remarkable accomplishments. The official announcement highlighted the actors’ nominations, stating: “These dynamic performers continue to captivate audiences and push the boundaries of storytelling in African cinema and beyond.”
This year’s theme, ‘Celebrating the Great and Daring,’ features nominees across 23 categories, including education, law, entrepreneurship, technology, and the arts.
