APC win in Edo demonstrates Nigerians’ confidence in Tinubu’s leadership — Akpabio

The victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the Edo State governorship election has been claimed as reflection of the confidence Nigerians have in President Bola Tinubu by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio made the statement on Sunday after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared Monday Okpebholo of the APC winner of the election conducted on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

“I strongly believe that the election in Edo, though tense at the beginning, is a reflection of the confidence that Nigerians continue to express in President Tinubu,” Akpabio said.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, officially announced Okpebholo winner of the election.

Okpebholo, according to INEC, garnered 291,667 votes to beat Ighodalo and Akpata with 247,274 and 18,737 votes, respectively.
