A heated online clash has erupted between Nigerian food critic Opeyemi Famakin and businessman Cubana Chiefpriest following a review of Chiefpriest’s restaurant in Imo State.

The controversy began on September 11, 2024, when Famakin visited Cubana Chiefpriest’s restaurant and shared his thoughts on Instagram. While he praised the establishment’s ambiance, he criticized the pre-made, microwaved pastries. Initially, Cubana Chiefpriest responded politely in the comments, thanking Famakin for his visit and saying, “Thanks for stopping by, Foodie, stay blessed.”

However, tensions flared the following day, September 12, when Famakin claimed that Cubana Chiefpriest had privately threatened him over the review. Famakin posted screenshots of their exchange, where Chiefpriest allegedly warned, “Karma is real, you must pay for whatsoever you sow in life. I don’t fight lowlifes, I leave them to karma. The business you did your wicked review for is owned by a 6-year-old.”

Expressing concern for his safety, Famakin responded with a caption stating, “I know a threat when I see one. I guess it’s time to leave Imo State ASAP. If anything happens to me while I am here, well, you know who to hold. I love how he was polite in the comment section for the world to see, but it was a different tone in my DMs.”

Cubana Chiefpriest later fired back through his Instagram stories, accusing Famakin of misleading his audience. According to the businessman, Famakin had requested that his burger be microwaved, only to criticize the restaurant afterward. “You asked them to microwave the burger for you, stood there and waited for them to do it, then turned around to sit down and use it for content,” Chiefpriest wrote. “If you didn’t like it, why didn’t you stop them? Thought his review was honest… then went to blast my staff.”

In response, Famakin stood by his review and dismissed the claims, accusing Chiefpriest of spreading falsehoods. The clash continues to spark discussions online, as both figures maintain their positions.
