Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi spearheaded a protest on Wednesday, September 29, 2023, outside the Ikorodu Magistrate Court as investigations into the sudden death of popular singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, resumed. The investigations aims to uncover the true cause of Mohbad’s mysterious death.
Photos circulating on social media showed Mohbad’s parents, Joseph and Abosede Aloba, arriving separately to attend the resumed proceedings. The family has been vocal in their pursuit of justice since Mohbad’s unexpected death on September 12, 2023, which led to widespread public outcry and demands for a thorough investigation.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), but the results yielded little beyond the detection of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, which was not present in high enough quantities to be fatal.
Unsatisfied with the findings, Mohbad’s family rejected the autopsy results and called for an independent investigation. According to Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba legal team, a more comprehensive two-part autopsy is underway, with toxicology and histology tests to follow.
Outside the court, Fabiyi, accompanied by supporters, staged a peaceful protest calling for justice and transparency in the case. Fabiyi, a strong advocate for accountability in the entertainment industry, held placards demanding clarity on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Notably absent from the proceedings were Naira Marley and Sam Larry, two individuals widely considered key witnesses. Despite being summoned to appear, their absence has only fueled further public speculation.
