Legendary Waka musician, Queen Salawa Abeni, has once again captured the hearts of fans with her soulful cover of Asake’s trending hit, ‘Fuji Vibes.’

Known for her groundbreaking contributions to Fuji music in the 70s and 80s, Abeni, now 63, displayed her timeless talent in a studio performance that has since gone viral online.

The performance, a spirited rendition of Asake’s song from his recently released third album ‘Lungu Boy,’ reignited fond memories of Abeni’s Waka music, which once made her the first female Yoruba artist to sell over 1 million copies with her debut album, ‘General Murtala Ramat Muhammad,’ released in 1976 in honor of the late Nigerian head of state.

With a career spanning over four decades, Salawa Abeni’s influence on Fuji music is indisputable. Her pioneering path has paved the way for many future female artists, solidifying her status as a living legend of Yoruba indigenous music.

Meanwhile, Asake’s *’Fuji Vibes’* continues to garner widespread attention as a fan favorite from his 14-track album, featuring collaborations with global stars like Grammy winner Wizkid, British rappers Stormzy and Central Cee, and Brazilian sensation Anitta. His unique blend of Fuji with other genres highlights the enduring influence of Yoruba music on today’s soundscapes.
