German coach, Bruno Labbadia has made a surprising move, withdrawing his acceptance to coach the Super Eagles with less than a week to go before the AFCON 2025 qualifying fixtures against Benin and Rwanda.
This unexpected decision follows the Nigeria Football Federation’s recent announcement that Labbadia had been appointed as the national team’s Head Coach.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said in the early hours of Tuesday: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.” According to German tabloid Kicker, “Labbadia has halt talks with Nigeria after contract negotiations stalled (despite already announcing him as manager).”
