Hon. Shagaya empowers aso oke weavers, aims to boost economy

In a groundbreaking initiative, Rep. Muktar Tolani Shagaya has successfully distributed materials to boost the productivity of Aso Oke Weavers in the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency. This move highlights Shagaya’s commitment to fostering economic growth, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting self-reliance.

Speaking on behalf of Shagaya, his Legislative Aides, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi and Alhaji Abdulraheem Eshe, emphasized the significance of traditional crafts in sustainable development and job creation.

“Aso Oke weaving is not just a craft, but a symbol of our cultural identity. By investing in our people and their talents, we can stimulate the local economy, foster financial independence, and preserve our heritage,” they said.

Chairman of Aso-Oke Weavers Association, Alh. Tunde Jamaje, also commended Rep. Shagaya for the gesture, saying, “This will boost the local textile industry and encourage the use of traditional fabrics for cultural and ceremonial purposes. We are grateful to Rep. Shagaya for his foresight and dedication to our community.”

Representing General Duties National Productivity Center, Mrs. Olaoye Habeebat Oluwatosin, commended the lawmaker for his generosity and commitment to uplifting his constituents.

The distribution of Aso-Oke materials marked a significant milestone in Shagaya’s efforts to promote economic growth and cultural awareness in his constituency.

Earlier, Kwara State Artisan Chairman, Alh. Adesina Jimoh, expressed his gratitude for the Empowerment, stressing its importance in promoting and preserving Yoruba culture. “This initiative is a game-changer for the Aso Oke industry and our cultural legacy. We thank Rep. Shagaya for his visionary leadership and unwavering support,” he said.
