After a successful recovery from their long journey to Colombia, Nigeria’s U20 girls, the Falconets, are set to face off against their Australian counterparts in a friendly match on Friday. This encounter is part of the Nigeria Football Federation’s preparations for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Colombia from August 31 to September 22.
Coach Christopher Danjuma and his team, including fitness trainer Chima Michael, have been putting the Falconets through their paces since Monday in preparation for the match against Australia and the upcoming World Cup.
The friendly match against Australia will kick off at 10am Colombia time (4pm local time) on Friday at the Club Banco de la República in Bogota. Jairo Pachon, NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, has confirmed that all arrangements are in place for the encounter.
The Falconets’ squad has been bolstered by the addition of players who have previously represented the Nigeria senior team, the Super Falcons. These include defenders Jumoke Alani, Rofiat Imuran, Comfort Folorunsho, and forwards Opeyemi Ajakaye, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, and Flourish Sabastine.
The team will also face Mexico in another friendly match on Monday at the same venue.
