Former England defender, Gary Neville had blamed Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez for his not-so-good performance in their 2-0 opening EPL week loss to Manchester City on Sunday.
Yesterday, Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic scored the goals as Manchester City triumphed 2-0 over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to claim all the points.
The Sky sports pundit was unimpressed with the Argentine midfielder’s efforts, saying he often presses unnecessarily and blames his teammates by throwing up his arms in frustration. Neville added that Chelsea’s midfield, including Fernandez, was outplayed and that the team’s overall strategy was too simplistic.
He expressed disappointment that Chelsea didn’t take more risks with the ball, leading to a dominant performance by Manchester City.
Neville said “He then throws up his arms to his team-mates as if to say “where were you?”. He is not kidding anyone.
He added “I thought Chelsea would take a few more risks on the ball. But they have been quite basic. The Chelsea midfield are being run ragged.”
